The End of Road to South Fork Payette River stretch of Deadwood River in Boise County is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Mountain Home, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater paddling here in the Salmon River Mountains is a great experience. | Idaho scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. so go ahead and pack your camp stove. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
Briefly about the general area: If you want to check out some interesting
stuff, check out Oxbow Bend. Near Deadwood River you hit upon the Onion Valley Trail which is a great hiking trail; if you're dropping by from Garden Valley, you won't be the only one. The surroundings of this river have
so much to offer. There is a nice hiking trail right next door to Deadwood River called the West Side Trail. At Deadwood River through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 90's.
