New Hampshire whitewater, Saco River Carroll county, Crawford Notch to Bartlett section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     6.2 miles   The starting location is a reasonable drive from Laconia, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Saco River in New Hampshire is 6.2 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful New Hampshire scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. You might     be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The White Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Crawford Notch to Bartlett stretch is one of them. The campgrounds here at Saco River are pretty good. Great exercise and just hanging out with   mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: Here at Saco River you'll perhaps meet some people from Bartlett, and no need to travel far to stop at out of the ordinary stuff like Hart Ledge. You clearly should fancy the White Mountains. The Mount Parker Trail is a perfect hiking trail in close proximity to Saco River, and hey, Gotta ski right? Attitash Bear Peak is a splendid spot to do that. This river is so good. Going to Crawford Notch State Park in the neighborhood of Saco River is a nice thing to do, and on a tremendous day you can take a hike along the Razor Brook Trail.
