Washington whitewater, Twisp River

Okanogan county, Buttermilk Creek to town of Twisp section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III     10 miles
This section of Twisp River is 10 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. The scenic beauty of Washington and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The put-in location is a short drive from Wenatchee, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This
is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping
stuff too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end
up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
There are plenty of people from Winthrop here at Twisp River, and Horse Gulch Spring is an inspiring place to check out during your stay. You simply ought to have a thing about the Northern Cascade Range. Nearby Elbow Coulee is a magnificent spot to go if you're at Twisp River, and Pearrygin Lake State Park is a good location to check out on a gorgeous day. This is a great river. For the duration of the warm days of summer highs here at Twisp River get into the 80's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 50's.
