CLASS IV     5.2 miles
  This section of Yellowjacket Creek in Skamania/Lewis County is 5.2 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The nature scenery of Skamania/Lewis County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great.
    The Veta Creek to Cispus River confluence section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or
kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The starting point is not too far from Hood River, if  
you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Gifford Pinchot National Forest is a good location to visit, and the Klickitat Trail offers hiking at its best. Yep, outdoors cool stuff truly is plentiful here in the Northern Cascade Range. This is a popular place for folks from Randle, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Yellowjacket Creek; Pompey Peak Trail is a great local trail. This is such a fun river. Throughout the summertime months, highs ordinarily are in the 70's at Yellowjacket Creek, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's.
